NORMAL WATER LOSS
Your pool will naturally lose some water to evaporation, splashing out, and backwashing. Your pool may also gain water from rainfall.
A good rule of thumb is that if you are routinely adding more than two inches of water to your pool every week, you may have a leak that is worth spending time and money to repair.
DAMAGE TO POOL
Pools are meant to be watertight, but seals will deteriorate and other parts of your pool will shift and settle or just plain wear out. Pools can leak through any of the fittings, plumbing, accessories, concrete walls, or liner. It is important to repair leaks, not only to save water, heat and chemicals, but also to prevent undermining the structural components of your pool and washing away fill dirt.

BEFORE WE ARRIVE
- Does the pool only leak with the equipment on? This could indicate that the return lines may have a leak, or the backwash valve
on the filter may be leaking.
- Does the pool only leak with the equipment off? This type of leak could indicate a leak in the skimmer line or main drain line.
- Does the pool leak all the time, whether the equipment is on or off? This does not rule out any plumbing leaks, but could indicate
leaks through the liner or concrete structure, or even the pool light.
- Unsure of the evaporation rate? Place a bucket of pool water beside the pool. Mark both the bucket and the pool water levels.
After 24 hours, check the loss of water in both the pool and bucket. If it is evaporation, the water levels will go down equally in
both the bucket and the pool.
